Of the People

I am a "regular person" with "regular people" problems.  I understand how difficult it is to get back on your feet after a setback because I have lived it.  And it shouldn't be this difficult.

I'm tired of being represented by men who don't seem to understand how it feels to struggle to make ends meet.  I'm tired of being represented by men who care more about serving their campaign donors than they  care about us, the people they have taken an oath to serve..

I am running for Congress because our current representative doesn't seem to remember that he works for us and we deserve better.

                    My Journey:
            A HodgePodge of Experiences

  • Early LifeI was raised by pubilic servants; my mother a teacher and my father a federal employee.  After they got divorced my mom moved my brother, sister and I to Jacksonville, IL, a small town west of Springfield where I lived until after my freshman year of high school when I moved to Clermont County to live with my father.

  • Education: I graduated from Glen Este High School and headed to Trinity College in Washington, D.C. to pursue a degree in  International Studies.  After my freshman year of College I moved back home to Jacksonville, IL where I attended Illinois College.  I lived at home and worked part time at Wendy's.  I graduated in '95 with a Bachelor of Arts in English.  In with a master of Arts in Teaching and worked as a High School English Teacher.

  • Subastance Abuse and Recovery: I am an alcoholic with 30 years of recovery under my belt. I have an understanding of substance abuse and recovery that most electecd officials do not have.

Gender Based Violence: I pressed domestic violence charges against my husband in 2013. I have experienced the limitations of the justice system in protecting victims. The Epstein scandal has open wounds in women across the country who, like me, have experienced gender based violence.

  • Disability:Two weeks after my separation from my husband I was diagnosed with Multiple Sclerosis. I worked hard with my team doctors to stablilize my disease and manage my symptoms. As a result most people don't realize that there is anything "wrong" with me unless I tell them.

We have been represented by politicians who have convinced us that we need to focus on things that keep us divided. They tell us that our neighbors and friends who disagree with us are enemies. They make promises that they aren't able to keep and have no intention of keeping.

We deserve better than the politicians we've been left to deal with!

We deserve a public servant. Someone who understands that they work for us and taht the best way to campaign for re-election is to do the job well.

I am running for Ohio's 2nd Congressional District because I was taught that if I see something that needs to be done I should do it.
